More on the interests deal...

In the interest of trying to connect or at least figure out what our common denominators are, I've composed a meme:
Get to know you meme deal...
1. When you are asked this question - "do you like your job?" What is the first thing that comes to mind?
It pays the rent and bills. But if something better came along or I won the lottery, I'm gone. (Don't get me wrong - it is a far better to have a job than not have one, unless one is independently wealthy and can do whatever they please, a la Paris Hilton.)
(If you aren't lucky enough to have one or rather lucky enough not to need one, ignore this question.)
2. How do you feel about children?
Don't really think about them much to be honest. Unless someone thrusts pictures in my face, then I politely pretend to be interested. I think the maternal gene got passed to my brother instead of me or somehow skipped me entirely, along with the domestic gene.
3. Name some tv episodes that you loved, one rule can't name two tv shows twice (can describe if you are like me and can't remember the frigging titles).
1. Fool for Love - BTVS S5
2. Smile Time - ATS S5
3. The season2 finale 2 parter of Farscape , where water is rushing through Scorpius's Spaceship
4. Xfiles (not a fan of the series, but loved this episode) - the one where
the guy pretends to Mulder
5. Star Trek Next Generation - The last episode of the series, where Picard goes through his own timeline.
6. BattleStar Galatica - the two-part finale.
7. Veronica Mars - Christmas with the Echolls (Logan's Dad gets stabbed at the end)
8. Lost - the episode that explains Sawyer
9. Alias - the episode last season with Will, they played spies. (I lost interest in Alias after Will, Sark, Francine, and Irnia left it)
10. Nip-Tuck - the episode where Julia goes through the plate glass window, and sees her life as it might have been
4. Would you describe yourself as a Buffy or Angel fan? (If you like neither, say that, or if you like both say that)
Buffy
(I liked Angel, but didn't watch it consistently. To be honest - when Angel, and Cordelia left BTVS, the show got more interesting to me.
Never a huge Angel and Cordy fan. To be honest, outside Wes' arc starting with Loyalty, was more interested in the non-contract or limited players.)
5. Name books that you are currently reading, include one you would recommend to someone on your friendslist, place a star by it.
1. Fall of Hyperion
2. Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell (in my nightstand, too big to travel with)
I'd recommend Hyperion by Dan Simmons, it references mythology, Wizard of Oz,
religions, and poetry. Fall isn't as good as the first one, but still quite interesting. Simmons is very experimental in his story-telling style. Haven't read many authors similar to him.
6. Name five books that you are considering reading next, which are on your book shelf:
-A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin
-Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynn Edwards
-Pattern Recognition by William Gibson
-Hammered by Elizabeth Bear
-Fox Evil by Minnette Walters
-Cobra Event by Richard Preston or Darwin's Children by Greg Bear (need a thriller at the moment)(okay so that's six)
7. Drink you can't live without
Viatmin Water by Glaceau - either Rescue (green tea, b+ chamomile) or Stress-B
(vitamin B-6, B-12 and St. John's Wart) Yes, I know it's probably a load of huey, but I'm hooked on them - they make me feel better. Plus? Can't frigging have coffee (love coffee, can't have it - my body hates it).
8. Favorite ice cream flavor of the moment
Dove's peppermint chocolat chip (which I can't find, damn-it.)
(Normally just peppermint stick)In lieu of that? The best ice cream? Ronnybrook Farms Vannilla, tastes just like homemade.
9. Cake or Pie?
Cake, preferably chocolate, as long as it has frosting (and not that flavorous whipped stuff but real rich frosting complete with decorations - ie. roses and sprinkles.)
If I had pie, what is my favorite? My mother's apple pie.
10. Cookies?
Chocolat Macroons or Hazelnut Linzer
(Also quite found of chocolat chip macadmia nut, although is not fond of me)
11. Favorite alcoholic drink?
Vodka Martini - flavored Vodka.
(That's when I can drink and stomach doesn't rebel.)
12. Wine or Beer?
Wine (although neither like me at the moment)
13. Current culinary addiction
Sugar - specifically Brownies with Duncan Hines Frosting. Methinks I'm addicted to the sugar.
Do with this what you will, assuming you even read it, may add more in another separate entry.
Must go....eat.
Bye.
Will leave you with quick passage from Fall of Hyperion, which while seemingly melodramatic has an odd resonance at times, it's John Keats musing while dying:
"In the end , it is all we are, these limid tide pools of self-consciousness between crashing waves of pain. We are destined to bear our pain pain with us, hugging it tight to our bellies like the young Spartan theif hiding a wolf cub so it can eat away our insides...
Words assail me. The thought of books makes me ache. Poetry echoes in my mind, and if I had the ability to banish it, I would do so at once..."
