Date: 2020-11-12 06:10 pm (UTC)One of my favourite non-fiction books is Bea Uusma's The Expedition, about a doomed attempt to fly a balloon to the North Pole in the late 19th century, as well as trying to figure out her own obsession with the subject. One of those history books where the author is anything but a dry narrator trying to claim objectivity, but instead gets so ragingly subjective it almost becomes an autobiography, basically screaming at the reader "LOOK AT THIS! ISN'T THIS THE MOST AMAZINGLY SAD AND THRILLING AND PERPLEXING STORY YOU'VE EVER HEARD?!?"

I'd just write them all down, but it would be painful. Also, I keep playing with the prompts. I changed the female author to a black female author. But it's the only book meme I could find without "favorite" before everything. LOL!
Oh, "The Expedition" sounds really good. I love books like that. At some point, I'm going to read Into Thin Air by John Kraukauer.
