Re: your foot - having had voluntary surgery on one of mine (bunions), that involved breaking the bones in several places, I know how frustratingly long the recovery time is. You start to feel you'll never get to normal.
I'd say give it six months to a year.
I must be crazy, btw. I've signed up to have the other one done. It's either that or never be able to buy a pair of shoes again.
