There's only been a handful of series since Buffy that I felt the need to write meta on. GoT wasn't one of them, no comment on GoT, I didn't exactly write meta on The Wire either or Farscape for that matter.
I tend to write it on things in which the metaphors grab me for some reason or other, has little to do with the quality of the series. Often shows that are lesser in the quality department get more meta.
